Last week, our old familiar Instagram launched a new feature; Instagram Reels. It is by far the most notable of Instagram’s new features this year because it is a direct and very formidable competitor of Tiktok. While many have tried to utilise Tiktok, it is possible that Instagram Reels may prove more effective for marketing your business. It allows users to create 15-second videos with short audio clips. Users can scroll endlessly through short video content that are based on their likes, follows, followers, and interactions. Now let’s talk about how brands are using Instagram Reels…
Reuse and recycle content from Tiktok
ASOS has a massive following on Instagram and Tiktok. So they sneakily reused their Instagram content and the reel gained over 4.4 million views in just a few days. Handily, the dimensions are the same for the two apps, all you have to do is find the audio on the Instagram app or choose a new one! Think of it like this: it could help convince an audience that already saw the clip on TikTok decide to just look for it on Instagram, increasing your followers big time.
Try something new
Online challenges are taking the internet by storm. Think #SavageChallenge or #Tootisieslide Challenge. Why not create your own?
Collaborate
Get in touch with as many influencers as possible. Featuring influencers in your reels can create a bit of a buzz around your business.
A brand that does this properly – Walmart. Having a diverse range of collaborators allows Walmart to engage with a diverse range of followers.
Maintain Brand Consistency
Create content that is consistent with your business’ brand. Clips of people clapping their hands and changing outfit are extremely popular on TikTok right now, if this is the type of content you’re creating, carry it over to TikTok.
Tease Sneak Peeks
Why not share a sneak peak of things you’re working on? Netflix shares a short clip of an upcoming series to build anticipation and excitement. Why not do the same? Give it a go.
Create high quality content
Don’t create content for the sake of it. Make sure it’s fine tuned, well thought out and good quality.
Internet users all over the world are enjoying creative short-form video content. The endless scrolling navigation makes it easy for users to view content they love. And soon we will see if we have a true rival to TikTok and how brands use Instagram Reels.
