First, let’s talk about what photography is

In essence, photography is the art of capturing images and processing them, making any edits where necessary. Commercial photography is used in business environments. This includes pictures of products, services and your physical store – the possibilities are endless.

Why is high-quality photography important?

1. It allows you to stand out from the crowd

We all know business can be cutthroat, so it is vital to gain a competitive edge where you can. Using high-quality imagery allows you to stand out against your competitors. Luckily for us, there is no end to the kind of imagery you can create. So, it doesn’t. matter whether your brand is modern, traditional, feminine, or complex. You can use photography to reflect your brand! With this, you can demonstrate you are an individual brand and convince customers to choose you.

2. Photography helps increase brand awareness

Websites with high-quality images receive 90% more views than those without. So with more views, more prospective customers will become aware of your brand. Visual imagery is most effective when increasing brand awareness, as 80% of consumers remember things they see. This is in comparison to 10% of what they hear and 20% of what they read.

Brand awareness is vital! When customers are making purchase decisions, they go through a personal ‘screening process’. This then allows them to narrow down to a small number of brands they are considering – their consideration set. Without brand awareness, you seriously reduce the chance of customers considering your brand when they want to make a purchase.

3. Your media influences the perception of your brand

Poor images can weaken any campaigns or public posts you put out. With low-quality photography, you also risk giving your brand a poor reputation. Brand perception is extremely important. This is how your customers think, feel and experience your brand. As a result, these influence how customers view your brand. Imagery can also influence these perceptions. A high-quality website experience with good images can also create a positive customer experience.

Your customers’ view of the brand is vital, and their perception of your brand is paramount. Customers who perceive your brand to be high quality, and who trust your brand will choose to shop with you. Over half (55%) of consumers will pay more to shop with brands that give a positive experience.

4. Photography tells the story of your business

Stock images don’t tell the story of your brand. With images, you can give your customers an insight into your brand and what you are about – the reality. Many brands use high-quality stock images on their websites and social media channels. Whilst these present a high-quality image, stock images ultimately tell your customer nothing about your personal brand.

High-quality images tell a story about your brand, without the need for words. This means that no matter what vibe you’re trying to create, a good photographer can help send the right message to your audience. The importance of telling the story of your brand must not be underestimated. Nowadays, customers care about brands, and according to Oberlo, 88% of consumers feel that brand authenticity is important. Creating your own images also demonstrates that your brand is 100% authentic and is trustworthy.

5. Photography is versatile – not just for the web!

Good photos and videos can be used across all of your brand communications. Images can be used to build a reputable website, on social media channels, on blog posts, and outside of the digital world. You can use images on any print or outdoor advertising you promote. The sky’s the limit when it comes to what can be created with quality photography.

In our industry, they say content is king. Having a backlog of unique content, filled with high-quality photography keeps your audience engaged. With this content, your audience will view your brand as authentic. No one wants to shop with a brand that can’t tell its own story!
