After two years without a live event, their return in 2022 yielded their largest turnout ever: across two days, the festival offered the knowledge and opinions of 40 brilliant speakers to over 1000 registered delegates, including students, freelancers, indies, broadcasters, commissioners, developers, producers, writers and famous faces. The festival audience is dominated by local attendees, with special guests from the UK, Ireland, Europe and beyond.
What Belfast Media Festival Needed from Rapid Agency:
The Belfast Media Festival had a twofold objective. Firstly, they needed a website that not only provided crucial information about the event but also facilitated ticket purchases and provided an event schedule. Secondly, they sought to undergo a brand transformation, aspiring to resonate with a younger and trendier audience in the creative community. Their existing brand required a modern, fresh approach and competed effectively in their industry. What they had was lacking, and they wanted to step up a level. The event itself had grown significantly and therefore Belfast Media Festival was ready to establish a brand to match the growth.

We created an intuitive and user-friendly website that serves as a central information hub for the festival. It includes event details, historical information, objectives, and highlights, making it easy for users to access essential information.We integrated a secure and efficient ticketing system into the website, streamlining the ticket purchasing process.
Brand
We devised a new, contemporary brand identity for the festival. This rebranding aimed to align the festival with its vibrant and youthful target audience. The brand was designed to be professional yet creative, inclusive, trendy, and fun. A dynamic brand campaign, “City in Motion,” was created to roll out the new brand identity. This campaign was implemented across various mediums, including merchandise, flyers, banners, and wayfinding, ensuring a cohesive and impactful presence. Visual elements were introduced that tied back to the festival’s core theme, incorporating a camera lens icon to symbolise the diverse media types represented at the Belfast Media Festival, including TV, film, gaming, and more. Gradient textures and fluid lines conveyed the dynamic nature of media, voices, and perspectives.The colour palette, built using RGB colours, prominently featured pink to appeal to a youthful audience.

The design strategy reflects the evolving media and technology landscape and resonates with a contemporary, media-savvy audience. The introduction of annual campaign themes enhances the festival’s image as an ever-evolving and dynamic entity, fostering deeper connections with its audience and providing a platform for creative expression.
